History

The first known Lodge in Limavady was St Alban's 719, constituted in 1790. It is likely that an earlier lodge existed in the town and its known that Drummore Lodge No. 975 also met in the town from 1805 to 1844.

The Warrant of Lodge 719 was returned to Dublin in 1856 due to financial irregularities, but restored in 1860 in large part due to the efforts of George Given.

The foundation stone for Limavady Masonic Hall was laid on the 10th April 1900.  The following year the new hall had been built and was officially dedicated on 10 January 1901 by his Grace The Duke of Abercorn KG, Most Worshipful Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Ireland.

The architect was W.J. Given and the builder was a Mr James Wray of Limavady.

Renovations were carried out in in the mid-nineties and the refurbished hall was officially opened on 13 December 1996 by RW Bro. Harold Gough MBE, Past Provincial Deputy Grand Master of Londonderry & Donegal
